Lee Preston, former president of the Upper Patuxent Archaeology Group, President of the Friends of Patapsco Female Institute and instructor at Howard Community College will discuss the Dorsey Family, Avalon Iron Works and the vital Colonial Iron Industry in Elk Ridge as well as the role that the Patapsco Valley played in the production of iron before, during and after the American Revolution and into the 19th century.
