Join PHG at the Nike Missile Site BA-79 for this rescheduled Open House!
Unfortunately, the weather forced us to cancel our original March Open House, but now we’re ready to host the rescheduled event! Self-guided tours (above-ground) and guided tours (below-ground in magazines) will be available throughout the day.
Join us to:
- Learn more about the activities of local history, preservation, and conservation organizations
- Explore the grounds and history of Nike Missile Site BA-79
- To see a historical video about the Nike Missile Site BA-79 restoration efforts
- See a model missile launch by the National Association of Rocketry (weather pending)
- And more!
The preliminary schedule for this event is as follows:
1:00 pm – Event begins
1:15 – First guided tour of site begins
2:00 pm – Ethan Bean (USACE) gives a lecture on the history of the Nike Missile Sites program
2:45 pm – Granite Cadet Squadron demonstration
3:00 pm – National Association of Rocketry model missile launch
3:15 pm – Final guided tour of site begins
4:00 – Event ends
There will be snacks for purchase and on-site restroom facilities. Aside from below-ground, the site is ADA-compliant.
