Event Details

Water Canaries

1:30 – 3 p.m. at Avalon Area, field by Shelter 104

Coal miners used canaries to indicate safe or dangerous conditions in coal mines. What if we told you there are organisms in our water systems that can do the same? Join a naturalist as we search the Patapsco River for the organisms that can help to indicate the condition of the river. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet and wear waders, rain boots or water shoes, if you have them. This event is part of the Smithsonian Water/Ways on Mainstreet. Shine only. Ages 5+. This area fills early on holiday weekends so plan to get there early.

Time

(Saturday) 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
